ROCK CLIMBING 403 : Glacier Skills Prep

If you’ve planned a trip to bigger mountains somewhere this season, you’ll need to bone up on the skills specific to glacier travel and crevasse rescue. Though there are no glaciers in the northeast, we can still teach you the skills necessary to traverse glaciated terrain more safely. We’ll spend a portion of the day learning to assess glaciated terrain, then move on to rigging for glacier travel, crevasse self-extrication, and crevasse partner-rescue systems.

Outdoors, we’ll set up and practice the demonstrated techniques. If you already have basic rock climbing and mountaineering skills, we can cover these specialized techniques on even the warmest summer day! It’s the wise thing to do before heading to Rainier or Denali, the Alps or the Andes.
