BRIAN ROSENER

Brian Rosener
AMGA Top Rope Site Manager

Wilderness First Aid

AMGA
Since he grew up around the Jersey Shore, Brian’s climbing life started indoors at Wall Street and the Rutgers Climbing Wall in the flatlands of Central Jersey. Eventually, his love for the outdoors, born from years of cycling and hiking, led him to give outdoor climbing a try. Thanks to the generosity of his best friend, who handed him a rope and rack and pointed up a dirty 5.2 corner and said “lead it”, Brian began trad leading relatively early on. The heroic sense of euphoria from that first lead quickly wore off when he discovered his friend had followed the “epic” route in a pair of approach shoes (he now guides on that same route in the same shoe his buddy had: Five Ten Guide Tennies.)

After discovering climbing, Brian soon found himself spending a lot more time at the Gunks and Adirondacks than in class at Rutgers, feeling that school shouldn’t get in the way of his education. In his ten years of climbing most of his time has been spent in the Northeast, with a few trips to the Tetons and Needles to climb rock and Vail, CO to climb ice interspersed. His favorite Northeast routes are Birdland and Bonnie’s Roof at the Gunks and Haggis & Cold Toast and White Line Fever at the Adirondacks. Brian currently lives in Princeton, NJ, running climbing trips out of Allamuchy and Ralph Stover State Parks and is the store manager at the EMS retail shop in Bridgewater, NJ. He splits his time between cycling, running, enjoying good brews, reading and arguing about politics and ecology, and finding ways to maximize his outdoor recreation time while minimizing his environmental impact.
