Dan grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania on an old apple orchard and cross county ski center. He first started climbing after spending all of his allowance and food money on climbing gear and a guide in Acadia. College took Dan to a completely foreign land in Philadelphia at Temple University and oddly enough this is where he started working in the climbing industry in a climbing gym. College life allowed him a little more free time than his parents would have liked and he spent much of time climbing and backpacking. Dan has climbed extensively in Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania, out west and parts of Mexico. His favorite place to climb and play is up at the Gunks.
After becoming a route setter and instructor at a Philadelphia gym, Dan took a job working for EMS at a retail store and jumped at the opportunity for guiding for the climbing school. Outdoor education and guiding is where Dan feels most at home and loves exploring new routes with friends, family and new climbers.
Dan spends much of his time backpacking, kayaking and skiing with his girlfiend Jen and their awesome dog Biner. Other notable hobbies include: coming up with excuses to build stufff, gardening, and trying to minimize his impact on the environment. For Dan, nothing replaces the awesome feeling when he is climbing and enjoying another wonderful day on the rock. Dan currently lives in Pennsylvania with his girlfriend Jen, their dogs Biner and Harley and a fish named Jim.
