Mike started climbing in 1992 on the short cliffs of eastern Connecticut. Many years of top roping combined with a childhood love of skiing led to his first ice climbing and mountaineering trips in 1996. This is where he was hooked on the beauty and solitude the alpine environment provides. This first experiences have led him all over the northeast, as well as Colorado and Wyoming in search of rock and ice.
Connecticuts variety of rock and ice routes have prepared him for some memorable climbs in beautiful settings. Whitney Gilman Ridge, Lakeview, and the Black Dike on Cannon. Pinnacle Buttress and the gullies of Huntington Ravine on Mt. Washington. Pamola IV on Katahdin. He hopes to add to this with return trips to the Grand Teton, Wind River Range, and Katahdin where hopefully the weather will cooperate a little more.
He lives in Connecticut with his wife Sue with whom he has shared many climbs with. When not out climbing he enjoys telemark skiing, whitewater kayaking, and mountain biking.
